Your shliach will gladly assist you in arranging for a local family to host you for the entire weekend. JLI staff will be happy to help you find accommodation as well. If you would like to stay at a local hotel, The Brooklyn, Best Western, and La Quinta Inn are conveniently situated less than a 15 minute walk from where the main program will take place. Crown Heights has many short-term rentals available, some of them can be viewed here. If you do not find availability, please email [email protected].

Yes! Besides for being 100% glatt kosher, we have vegetarian and pescetarian options available. Please include your dietary requests in the notes section upon registering.

Transportation between program locations is provided throughout the weekend. We do not supply transportation to and from the airport.

There are a few subway stations dotted around Crown Heights. Choose your subway station according to where you are staying. The 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains all make stops in the neighborhood.

We recommend flying to JFK or LGA airports, both a 35-45 minute drive from Crown Heights.

Newark Airport (EWR) is in New Jersey, and taxis to Crown Heights will cost more. There are direct trains and buses from EWR to Manhattan, and you can take a subway from Manhattan directly to Crown Heights. Check Google Maps for specific directions.

This year's Shabbaton begins on Friday, May 17. Registration opens at 9:00 AM and the opening program is at 5:00 PM. The Shabbaton concludes on Sunday, May 19 at 3:00 PM.

No prior Jewish knowledge is needed, and all announcements and speeches are in English. There will be English guidance throughout the prayer services.

Each community affiliated with Shabbat in the Heights has an Invitation Code. If you don’t know your Code, kindly consult with your local Chabad rabbi.

The event is $350 for adults and $120 for children. (Earlybird $50 discount per adult, expiring March 1st, 2024) That includes all meals, transportation and activities. If you opt for us to arrange accommodations there is no extra costs. If you arrange your own, that will not be included in the price.

Yes, we have a children's program throughout the weekend for children ages 4–14. The program consists of special activities and trips, and takes place outside of meal times.

We suggest slightly more formal attire for Shabbat. While it is springtime, you will probably still need a light jacket. Check the weather before travel.

The program begins on Friday afternoon and ends Sunday afternoon. If you would like to stay at your hosts for longer than that, please email [email protected] to confirm if this can be arranged.

Throughout Shabbat there will be a bit of walking, and Crown Heights is quite flat so the walking should be easy. If you would like to stay closer to the main location, or at a place with limited stairs, please include this in the notes upon registering.

While the format is similar from year to year, there are different speakers and programs each time. You will definitely learn something new this year—spending a Shabbat with your community in Crown Heights is always enjoyable and inspiring!

We do not offer any discounts or scholarships. A payment plan can be set up at no additional cost, provided the balance is paid in full before the event.

Crown Heights is situated in the heart of Brooklyn, and while it is possible to find parking, it can be a challenge. Public transport is very reliable, accessible, and preferable (see “Is transportation provided?”).

May is the beginning of spring in New York, the weather should be mild, but you will probably need a light jacket. Check the weather before travel.

In the event of a cancellation on or before March 31, 2024, you will be refunded the registration cost minus a $25 administration fee per person. There will be no refunds on cancellations made on or after March 31, 2024.
